Family Service Association is located in the Halifax Regional Municipality and is an independent, not-for-profit, community based agency serving a population of approximately 400,000 people.

We offer professional, confidential counselling and education services to enable people to function more effectively at home, in the community and in their work environment. We provide a wide range of individual, couple and family counselling services, addressing such issues as relationships, parenting and family, depression and anxiety, stress, violence and anger, grief and loss, separation and divorce, gambling problems, substance abuse, credit counselling and other issues that may impact an individual or a family.

The Association has been in operation for thirty five years and we have made a difference in the lives of over 35,000 men, women and children. Our experienced staff of psychologists, social workers and counsellors offer such professional services as counselling, therapy groups, mediation, courses conducted in a workplace and educational services.

We consider ourselves the premier provider of comprehensive and interlinked services to strengthen individuals and families in our community.

Many of our services are accessed through self-referral and fees are based on the person’s ability to pay. We are also a service providers for many Employee Assistance Programs. We are a nationally accredited organization with the highest levels of standards of practice and confidentiality.

Our offices are conveniently located to serve all of the HRM area. Our Mumford Street location offers plenty of free parking and is a stop on most major bus routes.
